I’m sharing my Christmas tree quilted table runner pattern with you. This is a really easy project to put together and makes a nice addition to your Christmas decorations. This design was originally created as a machine applique to use in your embroidery machine. I converted it to a pdf so it could be used even if you don’t have an embroidery machine. Either way you use it, it’s only 2 color changes and really makes a statement. The best part is that you can make this project in a day. Keep reading to see how simple it is to make.

Supplies for Machine Applique:

Tree applique design download here

3 – 10.5″x10.5″ background fabric pieces (I cut this piece a little larger so I could square it up after it stitched.

4 – 2.5″ x 10.5″ coordinating fabric strips

2 – 2.5″ x 38.5″ coordinating fabric strips

2.5″ x 116″ (approximately) fabric for binding

quilt batting

backing fabric

Tear away stabilizer

Coordinating embroidery thread

Supplies for PDF Applique:

pdf tree pattern download here

3 – 10.5″x10.5″ background fabric pieces

4 – 2.5″ x 10.5″ coordinating fabric strips

2 – 2.5″ x 38.5″ coordinating fabric strips

2.5″ x 116″ (approximately) fabric for binding

quilt batting

backing fabric

Coordinating thread

Applique Block

If you have chosen to make the tree using the pdf pattern, cut your pieces out and attach them to the 10.5″ block.

If you have chosen to make the tree in your embroidery machine, hoop tear away stabilizer and stitch tree applique.

Make 3 blocks with the tree applique and square blocks to 10.5″ x 10.5″.

Assembly:

Using your sewing machine, stitch a 2.5″x 10.5″ strip to the sides of each block with right sides together. Measure your completed blocks to get an accurate overall length.

Once the blocks are sewn together, sew one 2.5″ x 38.5″ strip across the top and one across the bottom.

Add quilt batting and backing fabric and quilt any way you’de like. I did a meander, just because I like it. I actually did the quilting in-the-hoop of my embroidery machine. I just moved my hoop 3 times. This will depend on the largest size hoop you have. If you are interested in quilting this in-the-hoop, contact me and I will send the file to you.

Once the quilting is complete, add the binding and you are all done! I can’t wait to see your fabric choices. I live in South Louisiana and have always wanted a black and white Christmas quilt. When I saw this black fabric with white magnolias on it, it spoke to me. You can read about it here. I had some left over blocks, and that is what I used to make the table runner.

Please share your final projects with me on facebook or here on the blog.

Be sure to follow me:

facebook – https://www.facebook.com/melissabryandesigns/

Instagram – @melissabryandesigns

Shop for embroidery and applique designs here.

Have a great day and a Merry Christmas, Melissa

Be sure to check the blog each day for more Holiday Prep ideas!

Day 1 – November 30 – Linda at One Quilting Circle

Day 2 – December 1 – Celine at Perkins Dry Goods

Day 3 – December 2 – Susan at the Quilt Branch

Day 4 – December 3 – Melissa at Big Bee Applique

Day 5 – December 4 – Celine at Perkins Dry Goods

Day 6 – December 5 – Morna at Creative Arts Professionals

Day 7 – December 6 – Debie at Wendt Quilting

Day 8 – December 7 – Linda at One Quilting Circle

Day 9 – December 8 – Debbie at Wendt Quilting

Day 10 – December 9 – Linda at One Quilting Circle

Day 4 of the 10 days of Holiday Prep!
